It’s certainly true that Level I is the easiest exam relative to the exam levels II and III. The key word here is relative: preparing for exam Level I is an arduous task in its own right, and it being the easier of the three should not convince you it will be a cakewalk!Consider the scope of the Level I materials: the fundamental ethics and professional standards, as well as a laundry list of financial topics, like equity, economics, portfolio management and so, so much more.
The official CFA Program curriculum clocks in at approximately 3000 pages of material, so much you could study it for a year and still not master it. You only have a limited amount of time to study for Level I, so every second counts. While you will need a full and total reading of all official materials to pass, it is practically impossible to read through it twice, let alone read through it enough to absorb all the key concepts.
To excel, you need supplementary materials to guide your focus and efforts. This is why FinQuiz is such a fantastic tool for serious students. We supplement every page of material with helpful notes, tools, citations and other guide materials to ensure a comprehensive understanding of everything you need to know. Consider just some of what we offer in our Level I package! This same question construction applies to the multiple choices presented in item sets. Item Set FormatItem sets are sometimes called “mini-cases.” Each item set on the CFA exam consists of a vignette (or case statement) and either four or six multiple choice items (questions). The length of a vignette ranges from about 1 page to 2.5 pages. The average length of the vignettes on the exam is about 1.5 pages.
The longer vignettes are those that include several tables of information, such as for a financial statement analysis, statistics, or fixed-income item set.The multiple choice items in each item set can only be answered based on the information in the vignette. Hence, the items are not free-standing (as in Level I), but are drawn from the vignette. You will need to read the vignette before answering the items, and you will need to refer back to the vignette for information. The multiple choice items can be answered independently of each other, but they do require information provided in the vignette.
